Music Performance, Musical Theatre, as with all of the Music Performance program emphases, integrates courses from three distinct academic divisions:
W&PA Core (5 credit hours)
- Worship Arts Forum (Studio recital)
- Worship Arts Seminar
- Junior Recital
- Senior Recital
- Internships (two semesters, in local or international theater)
- W&PA Practicum (one semester, in musical theatre)
Music Core (28 credit hours)
- Music Theory I, II
- Music Theory III, IV
- Musicianship I, II
- Piano Lab I, II (or for pianists, piano proficiency exam)
- Large Ensemble, Music (4 semesters)
- Applied Lessons (10 in eight semesters – require minimum of 4 semesters vocal and 4 semesters, acting)
Emphasis: Music Theatre (26)
- Musical Theatre Production (Winter-term sessions)
- Musical Theatre & Opera Workshop
- Introduction to Acting
- Acting II
- Commercial Script Writing, Short-Format
- History of Music Theatre & Repertoire
- Choreography and Dance I, II (two semesters, after Rhythmic Movement)
- Staging and Illumination
In addition to the core A&S courses, Music History I, II and IIIwould be required as A&S electives. Rhythmic Movement would be one of the two required Physical Education classes. History of Christian Song would be the required HIS core course.
