Application Procedures

(Music Education, Performance, Composition, and Worship Arts Majors)

As a prospective W&PA student, you will need to:

  1. Apply for admission to LBC
  2. Schedule an audition through the W&PA office
        (email or call Nancy Alt at nalt@lbc.edu or 717.569.7071)
  3. Fill out and bring to your audition the W&PA Audition Form
  4. Show up for your audition, which will consist of:
    1. An interview with the W&PA faculty
    2. A low stress,5 minute basic musicianship test
    3. An audition performance in accordance with the requirements for your prospective principal area of study. Please find your appropriate area(s) below for details.

Commercial Guitar, Bass, and Drums
Perform two contrasting commercial** selections for the instrument. You must provide charts so a faculty member can accompany you.*

Composition
All Music Composition majors will audition on their principal instrument (or voice) and submit scores and CDs of at least two compositions that represent their best current work.  In addition, please submit a list of all compositions with dates of composition and premieres (if applicable).

Piano, Classical Guitar, Orchestral Instruments, and Band Instruments
Perform two contrasting selections for the instrument – at least one from the classical repertoire – with or without accompaniment*

Voice
Perform one art song, aria, or traditional song AND one musical theater or commercial
song** with accompaniment.*
* Accompanists will be provided upon request or you may bring your own. If you prefer,
a CD player will also be available.
** Examples of commercial music styles include: country, gospel, jazz, rock, and blues.
